Therefore, it is only natural that any obtained information from research activities can also be utilized in educational and teaching activities. Increasing the know-how level in Finnish companies and educational institutes is one of the most important tasks of SMC. We are training both company personnel as well as students of HAMK.

Opportunities for students

SMC is actively involved in the teaching offered by HAMK. Members of our staff are responsible for Construction Engineering degree programme courses on steel structures (taught both in English and Finnish). SMC also participates in the teaching activities of Mechanical engineering and Design degree programmes. The staff of SMC is teaching courses related to their field of know-how, and the equipment of SMC is also utilized for teaching purposes. SMC aims to contribute especially to HAMK post-graduate education.

SMC aims to act as a link between the industry and HAMK’s degree programmes, and further between companies and students. A fine example of such co-operation are the industry-based project assignments. SMC also offers opportunities for theses works and training jobs, and these are available for students of HAMK University of Applied Sciences.
