KnowHow and ServicesWe offer development services to businesses in efficient integrated operations and maintenance along with operating optimization. We conduct research with companies in our field and develop educational products to be offered to universities of applied sciences and also corporate training. Our services include production process simulations, production information system development, automatic data collection and also system and application integration. Advances in information networks and automation systems enable us to offer new types of services. With the help of these services, our goal is to enhance the integrated operations and maintenance of production systems by predicting error situations and optimizing maintenance procedures. We work in close cooperation with the degree programmes in automation, industrial management and international business of HAMK University of Applied Sciences. Students cary out their theses in connection with project operations and are an integral resource in development work. Ultimately, an essential part of our operations is to advance the professional growth of our students. There are many foreign exchange trainees involved in our project work, annually around 15 people.

Technologies The competence of AutoMaint is built on the knowledge of automation- and information systems as well as on the understanding of operation quality and integrated operation and maintenance. Our key technologies are connected to automation guidance controls, simulations, information networks and field buses. AutoMaint’s spearhead technologies consist of maintenance information systems, automatic data collection as well as remote control and diagnostics. In these areas special emphasis is on e.g. information security solutions, safety measures and applications in wireless data transfer.

ResearchAutoMaint’s central form of corporate cooperation is applied research: more specifically to develop production efficiency and integrated operations and maintenance. Our goal is to increase the level of automation as well as enhance information management by utilizing information systems. Company-oriented research projects are executed either as company group projects with AutoMaint as the actuator, or as a directly company initiated project, whereupon AutoMaint provides its knowledge in the project’s scientific aspects. We apply for funding from various sources case-specifically. The most significant sources of financing are Tekes, ERDF and ESF. Typically in company group projects, the total corporate joint funding is 25-60% of the project’s total cost estimate. The aim in the future will be to more effectively capitalize the EU framework programmes in funding projects.

Laboratories Our laboratory equipment is focused on robotics, programmable logics and conveyer systems used in automated parcel handling. This equipment has been used to build various functioning entities, which are actively used in research and education.
