The purpose of the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System, ECTS, is to improve comparability of credits and grades between different educational systems. Finnish credits are fully compatible with the ECTS. A degree of 210 credits corresponds to 210 ECTS credits and 240 credits to 240 ECTS credits.
Diploma Supplement
HAMK University of Applied Sciences issues the Diploma Supplement, free of charge, to all graduates of the degree programmes. The Diploma Supplement is a document in English language attached to an original degree certificate.
The aim is to improve international ‘transparency’ and facilitate the academic and professional recognition of qualifications. It is designed to provide a description of the nature, level, context, content and status of the studies that were successfully completed by the graduate named on the original certificate. It also gives information on the national higher education system
The Diploma Supplement is not a substitute for the original certificate or a transcript but it makes, together with the transcript of records in English, the degree certificate more readable and easily comparable abroad. The Diploma Supplement offers to graduates an easier access to opportunities of work or further studies abroad. However, it is not an automatic system that guarantees recognition abroad.
Diploma Supplement Label
HAMK has been awarded a Diploma Supplement Label for 2010-2013 by the European Commission. The Commission (DG Education and Culture) awards labels to Higher Education Institutions that demonstrate excellence in applying the Diploma Supplement. The Diploma Supplement Label is an honorary distinction.
